Brazilian aftercare 48-hour do's and don'ts for summer in Queens

One of the biggest reasons people tell us their Brazilian felt “nearly painless” is that we’re gentle and precise, and that same mindset matters right after you leave. For the first 48 hours, treat the area like fresh, sensitive skin: keep it clean and dry, skip heat and sweat, avoid soaking in pools or tubs, and don’t exfoliate yet. Queens summer humidity can turn a great wax into irritation fast if you jump right into workouts, beach days, or tight clothes.

Your 0 to 48-hour Brazilian aftercare rules (summer edition)

Do: gentle showering only

We generally recommend a lukewarm shower, a fragrance-free cleanser, and then pat dry. No washcloth scrubbing and no “let me just really clean it” energy for two days. Your skin is calmest when you leave it alone.

Don’t: soak, steam, or sweat it out

Skip hot baths, saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, and long soaks. And give intense workouts 24 to 48 hours. Heat and friction are what usually kick up bumps and stingy irritation, especially in humid Queens summers.

Don’t: sun it or tan it

Avoid sun exposure on the area for 48 hours. Your skin is more reactive right after waxing, and sun and heat can turn mild sensitivity into a longer recovery.

Do: keep your commute simple

If you’re heading out through Jamaica Station or catching the AirTrain to JFK, pack like you mean it: clean cotton underwear, loose bottoms, and fragrance-free wipes for a quick freshen up. Change out of anything sweaty as soon as you can. Tight leggings plus summer heat is usually where people get irritated.

Quick rule: If it involves heat, friction, or soaking water, hold it for 48 hours after your Brazilian.

Days 3 to 7: where ingrowns and irritation usually start

A Brazilian removes hair from the front vaginal area and includes a buttocks strip for that complete smooth finish, so you’ve got more skin that can react if you go too hard too fast. Our waxers get a lot of “fast and painless” feedback because we don’t rush, and we want your aftercare to keep that same smooth, comfortable result.

Starting 3 to 7 days after your wax is when gentle exfoliation helps prevent ingrowns. Before that, exfoliating tends to irritate freshly waxed skin. Keep wearing breathable underwear, keep workouts reasonable, and avoid picking at any little bumps. Picking is how a tiny issue turns into a lingering one.

If you’re planning beach time, we recommend waiting 48 hours before ocean swimming. Salt water and sand friction can bother the area if you go the same day. Give your skin two days, then keep it clean and dry after.

Soothe smart: aloe, witch hazel, and what to skip

If you’re a little red or tender right after, that’s common. Keep it simple. We generally recommend a fragrance-free soothing gel, like aloe vera or witch hazel, in a thin layer. Think calm, not coated.

Good choices for the first 48 hours

  • Aloe gel (fragrance-free)
  • Witch hazel (alcohol-free if you’re sensitive)
  • Loose cotton underwear and breathable clothing

Hold these until your skin settles

  • Perfumed lotions and body sprays
  • Retinoids or strong acids on the area
  • Harsh scrubs and exfoliating gloves (wait 3 to 7 days)

And if you’re prone to irritation, less product is usually better. Clean, dry, breathable. That’s the formula.

Swimming, workouts, and sex after a Brazilian: the exact timing

Pools and hot tubs: Wait at least 48 hours. Chlorine plus soaking is a common recipe for stinging and bumps.

Ocean swimming: Wait 48 hours. After you swim, rinse off and change out of wet bottoms quickly.

Workouts: Light movement is fine, but give intense, sweaty sessions 24 to 48 hours. If you do work out, shower soon after and change into dry clothes.

Sex: Wait 48 hours. Friction and heat can irritate freshly waxed skin, even if you feel “fine” in the moment.

Wait at least 48 hours before swimming after a Brazilian. That includes pools and hot tubs, and we also recommend waiting 48 hours for ocean swimming. Soaking and friction can irritate freshly waxed skin.

Yes. Stick to a lukewarm shower, use a gentle fragrance-free cleanser, and pat the area dry. Avoid scrubbing, washcloth friction, and very hot water for the first 48 hours.

We recommend waiting 48 hours. Freshly waxed skin is more sensitive, and friction and heat can lead to irritation.

A thin layer of a soothing, fragrance-free gel is usually best. Aloe vera gel or witch hazel are common go-to options. Skip perfumed lotions or strong actives until your skin calms down.

Start gentle exfoliation about 3 to 7 days after your Brazilian, not sooner. Exfoliating too early can irritate the skin. Once you start, keep it gentle and consistent to help prevent ingrowns.
